Abstract

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with t(3;5)(q25;q34), belonging to AML with myelodys-plasia related changes according to WHO classification in 2008, is a subtype of AML that is particularly rare in children. NPM1/MLF1 fusion gene produced as a result of t(3;5)(q25;q34) was cloned, however, the exact mechanism of its role in leukemogenesis has not been clarified. Although this cytogenetic abnormality is regarded as an inter-mediate risk factor, its clinical significance is controversial until now. More cases need to be reported and investigated, therefore we present a case of AML with t(3;5)(q25;q34) in a 14-year-old girl with literature review.
