Abstract
We report on a 66-year-old woman with recurrent ischemic strokes, which were probably related to active panaortitis. Whole body fusion [18F]-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography computed tomography (PET-CT) scan showed increased FDG uptake in the entire aorta, innominate, bilateral subclavian, common carotid and femoral arteries on 12 days after symptom onset. The increased FDG uptake was attenuated after the treatment with steroid for 1 month. Panaortitis could provoke recurrent ischemic strokes, where FDG PET-CT is likely to be useful in the early diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring.
