Abstract


Cryptococcosis occurs throughout the world. The respiratory tract is the only known
Portal of entry into the body. Cryptococcosis often manifest itself as a widespread
systemic disease with prominent involvement of the brain and meninges, and the
presence of the fungus in the spinal fluid. Cutaneous lesions are found in 10 to 15
percent of the cases of systemic cryptococcosis.
A case of cutaneous cryptococcosis found in a 68 years old female patient associated
with probable malignant lymphoma. Several small subcutaneous nodules developed about
one week before the beginning of the meningeal signs. By repeated cultures and india
ink preparation of the cerebrospinal fluid, many Cryptococcus neoformans were identified.
