Abstract
요 약
정상인 20대 남자 57예와 20대 여자 38예를 대상으로 한 KRC의 Westergren변법의 정상
참고치는 20대 남자에 있어서 평균치(mean±SD)는 5±3.8mm/hr이고 정상범위(mean±2SD)
는 0-11㎜/hr였으며 20대 여자에서 평균치는 13±5.1mm/hr이고 정상범위는 0∼23mm/hr로
서 여자에서 높은 경향을 보였다.
입원 환자 74명을 대상으로 한 KRC법과 Wintrobe법간의 ESR치는 정상 및 slightly
abnormal 범위에서는 Wintrobe법에 의한 측정치가, moderately abnormal 범위 상에서는
KRC법에 의한 측정치가 높게 나왔으며 hematocrit 교정 후 ESR치의 비교에서도 같은 경향
을 보였다.
KRC 법과 Wintrobe법간의 검사성적에서 일치율은 정상범위에서는 KRC법이, 비정상범위
에서는 Wintrobe법이 각각 높은 경향을 보였다.
만성염증성 질환의 screening 및 빈혈이 있는 환자의 ESR측정시에는 Wintrobe법이 만성
염증성질환의 경라추적을 위한 만성염증성질환의 경과추적을 위한 ESR측정법으로는
Westergren변법을 이용한 KRC법이 우수하다고 생각된다.

The ESR studies have been studied in 57 healthy young men and 38 healthy young
women by KRC modified Westergen method for the normal reference value of ESR in
this laboratory, and also in 74 randomly selected patients for comparison of ESR
between the KRC modified Westergren and Wintrobe method.
The mean value of normal young man was 5±3.8㎜/hr and normal range was 0 to 11
㎜/hr.
The mean value of normal young woman was 13±5.1㎜/hr and normal range was 0
to 23㎜/hr.
The mean value and upper limit of range were higher in woman than in man.
In comparison of SSR of patient group, ESR by Wintrobe method was higher in
normal and slightly abnormal group but in moderate abnormal and marked abnormal
levels, ESR by HBC was much higher than that by Wintrobe method.
This result was as same as in comparison of hematocrit-corrected ESR.
The Wintrobe method seemed to be a more reliable method for the screening of
chronic inflammatory conditions, especially having anemia, due to adequate hematocrit
correction.
However for monitoring the progress of chronic inflammatory process such as
rheumatoid arthritis, KRC modified Westergren method appears to be more reliable and
more convenient than Wintrobe method.
