요 약
저자들은 최근 소아성 당뇨병에 속발한 급성 뇌칸디다증을 일으킨 17세의 한국인 소녀 시
체를 부검하고, 그 소견을 보고하는 동시에, 이 예와 관계있는 약간의 문헌고찰을 하였다.

An autopsy case of cerebral abscesses and granulomatous pachymeningitis caused by
Candida in a 17-year-old Korean female with juvenile diabetes mellitus is reported and
a review of literatures related to the case is presented.
At autopsy there was noted markedly diminution of Langerhans' islets, intranuclear
vacuolization of the liver cells, diffuse glomerulosclerosis of the kidneys, acute
suppurative inflammation of the lungs, granulomata with central necrosis in the
meninges, and multiple cerebral abscesses with granulomatous reaction. The
methenamine silver and PAS stains of meningeal and cerebral lesions disclosed many
budding yeasts cells, pseudohyphae and a few hyphae, consistent with Candida.
