Abstract
유방의 과오종은 비교적 드문 양성 종양으로 조직학적으로 정상 유방조직을 구성하는 섬
유성 조직과 선 및 도관의 소엽구조, 지방 조직등이 다양한 정도로 나타나서 정상 유방 조
직과 유사한 형태학적 소견을 보이나 경계가 명확한 종괴를 형성하는 것이 특징이다. 유방
에는 정상적으로 평활근 조직이 없기때문에 대부분의 과오종에서는 평활근 성분이 나타나지
않으며 평활근 조직이 포함되어 있는 예는 드물게 기술되어 있고 더우기 과오종의 주요 구
성성분이 평활근이어서 근육성 과오종이라 이름붙일 수 있는 경우는 매우 드문 변형 형태이
다. 문헌보고상 근육성 과오종(muscular hamartoma 또는 myoid hamartoma)이라는 이름으
로 보고된 예는 현재까지 외국 문헌에서 9예를 찾을 수 있었으며 국내 문헌보고에서는 아직
기록이 없다. 저자들은 38세 여자 환자에서 경험한 과오종으로 평활근 조직이 가장 많은 구
성 성분이었던 유방의 근육성 과오종 1예를 보고한다.

Hamartoma of the breast is relatively rare benign tumor, which is a
well-circumscribed mass mainly composed of fibrous stroma, adipose tissue, ducts and
acini. Muscular hamartoma of the breast is mainly composed of smooth muscle, and is
extremely rare because proper smooth muscle is normaly absent in the breast except in
the nipple. We describe a rare case of muscular hamartoma of the breast in a
38-year-old woman. This tumor was located in the upper outer quadrant and a 3×2.5×
2 ㎝ sized, well-demarcated but not encapsulated mass. The mass consisted mainly of
irregularly arranged smooth muscle bundles in the fibrous stroma with lobular units and
admixed fat cells. The origin of smooth muscle in hamartoma is not well known.
