Abstract
평활근 기원의 양성 종양으로, 평활근이 있는 곳이면 어느 곳에서나 생길 수 있으나 특히
여성 생식기관에 가장 흔하다1. 그러나 요도의 평활근종은 매우 희귀하여 전 세계적으로 약
35예만이 문헌에 보고되어 있을 뿐이고 우리나라에서는 1983년 이후 4예가 보고되어 있다.
최근에 저자들은 34세 여자의 요도 개구부에서 발생한 평활근종 1예를 경험하였기에 간단한
문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

Leiomyomas are benign tumors of smooth muscle origin and are very rare in the
female genital tract. To date, approximately 35 cases of urethral leiomyoma have been
reported in the literature.
A 34-year-old woman presented with a 3-year history of a mass at the urethral
meatus. Physical examination showed 2×1.5 ㎝ lump at the urethral meatus, posterior
lip. Histologically the tumor was mainly composed of benign cigar shaped smooth
muscle cells which were arranged in interlacing fascicles without cellular atypia or
mitosis. Immunohistochemistry confined leiomyoma with positive staining for vimentin,
desmin and muscle specific actin.
