Abstract
피부외에서 발생하는 원발성 악성 흑색종은 눈과 외음부에 잘 생기며, 다른 장소에는 흔
하지 않다. 특히 구강 및 상기도 부위에 생기는 악성 흑색종중 구개 편도 부위에 생기는 빈
도는 매우 낮아 국내문헌 보고가 되어 있지 않다.
이에 저자들은 좌측 구개 편도 점막에서 기원한 원발성 악성 흑색종 1예를 경험하였기에
문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

Maligant melanomas of the oral or nasal cavity, and the vulvovaginal area are
relatively common among the melanomas of non-ocular mucosa. But, primary malignant
melanoma arising in the mucosa of the palatine tonsil is rare.
We present a case of primary malignant melanoma arising in the mucosa of the
palatine tonsil.
A 36-year-old male was admitted for evaluation of a recurrent sore throat.
Tonsillectomy was Performed on the basis of clinical suspicion of chronic tonsillitis.
Grossly, the left tonsil was focally dark. Microscopically, the tonsillar mucosa was
diffusely infiltrated with tumor cells Tumor cells revealed numerous melanin pigments.
Intraepithelial nests of tumor cells were noted, but pagetoid spread of tumor cells was
not found. Tumor cells were positive for S-100 protein and HMB45 stain. There was no
evidence of melanoma in the skin or eye. (Korean J Pathol 1996; 30: 65 ∼67)
