Abstract
원발성 심종양은 비교적 드문 병변으로서, 심내막하, 심외막하 혹은 심근에서도 생길 수
있다 심장의 지방종은 1856년 Alber에 의해 처음 보고되었고 그 후 여러 저자들에 의해 문
헌고찰과 더불어 보고되며 왔으나 중복된 보고가 많아 정확한 발생 예를 알기는 어렵다.
1990년 Hamanouchi와 Goff이 문헌고찰 결과 전세계적으로 63예를 찾아내었다. 우리나라에
서는 심낭내 지방종이 2예 보고된 바 있고 심근을 침투하는 지방종이 1예 보고된 바가 있
다. 저자들은 평소 건강하게 지내오던 15세 남자가 갑자기 의식을 잃고 사망하여 부검한 결
과 심장의 좌심실벽에서 거대지방류을 발견하였기에 그 희유성과 사인으로서 이를 보고하는
바이다.

Lipomas of the heart are benign neoplasms and have rarely been described. Due to
the (act that they normally cause no symptoms, diagnosis is often purely accidental.
Because of the rarity of these tumors, it seems worthwhile to present an example
studied at autopsy. It was associated with the sudden death of a 15-year-old boy. The
tumor arose from the wall of the left ventricle and occupied the pericardial cavity,
measuring 13×7×6 ㎝ in size. The tumor was whitish-yellow, translucent, and soft.
Microscopically, the tumor was composed of mature adipose tissue which extended
between muscle fibers. This current case, the giant cardiac lipoma is believed to produce
disturbances of the conduction system and distrubances of cardiac filling.
