Abstract
평활근종은 여성생식기에 흔한 질환으로 요로에서는 드물게 발생하는데 방광의 평활근종
은 방광의 간엽성 종양중에서는 가장 많은 빈도를 차지하지만 전체 방광 종양중에서는 1∼
2%로 매우 드물다. 종양의 성장방향에 따라 강내형, 벽내형, 벽외형으로 구분할 수 있는데
증상을 나타내는 것은 주로 강내형으로 배뇨곤란, 요로 자극증상, 혈뇨 등이 있고 벽내형과
벽외형은 증상없이 다른 장기 검사 시술도중 우연히 발견되는 경우가 많다. 이에 저자들은
최근 방광의 강내형 평활근종 1예를 경험하였기에 이 질환의 희귀성에 비추어 문헌고찰과
함께 보고하고자 한다.

Leiomyoma is commonly found in the female genital tract, but occurrence in the
urinary bladder is very rare with only 235 cases reported in the literature. These tumors
have been classified as intravesical (63%), intramural (7%) and extravesical (30%)
depending on the direction of the growth. We report a case of intravesical leiomyoma of
the urinary bladder in a 36 year-old woman who exhibited dysuria and urinary
retention. The gross and microscopical findings of leiomyoma of the bladder are similar
to those of the uterus. Immunohistochemical stains for estrogen receptor (ER) and
progesterone receptor (PR) revealed diffuse nuclear staining in smooth muscle cells,
supporting the hypothesis of hormonal influence in tumorigenesis.
