Abstract

"In 1923 Brettauer and Rubin reported that eight cases were accompanied with hydroureter and hydronephrosis among 10 patients who were suffering from prolapse of Uterus. And Wallingford, in 1939, investigated six cases of the prolapse and one of them died of Uremia resulting from severe renal damage. A suggestion, now widely believed, is that if the prolapse is neglected for a long time without medical treatment, the hydroureter and the hydronephrosis may develop frequently, because of angulating the ureters as they pass under the uterine arteries. Although Prolapse of the uterus induces the damage to the urinary tract, little attention has been paid for the urological study. The author has been studied an advanced hydronephrosis and hydroureter resulted from prolapse of uterus itself. Follow-up study for six weeks after total hysterectomy showed a great deal of improvement in renal function and NPN."
