Abstract

Management of urinary-vaginal fistula has been a challenge for centuries. Basically, procedures for urinary-vaginal fistula continue to follow Sim`s concepts of adequate exposure, aseptic technique, and meticulous closure. Moreover, if any of these factors is ignored, the rate of successful repair is disappointing. 17 Patients with urinary-vaginal fistula admitted to the Department of Urology, Kyungpook National University Hospital during last 5 years were reviewed with particular attention being paid to the relationship between anatomical location or the fistula and repair methods. 16 of 17 urinary- vaginal fistulas were repaired using various surgical methods and one remaining case was managed with catheterisation only. All except one case were cured without any serious problem.
