Abstract


"A clinical observation was made on the non-visualizing kidney of the in-patients in the Department of Urology. National Police Hospital during the period from January 39 cases 73 to December, 1977 and the following results were obtained. 1. Of 444 cases hospitalized, IVP was performed on 259 cases. Among these 39 cases revealed non-visualizing kidney, giving a rate of 15.1%. 2. The sex ratio between male and female was about 2:1 and age distribution ranged from 16 to 69 years. 3. The clinical symptoms and signs were in order of albuminuria, flank pain, hematuria, frequency and dysuria. 4. The etiology of non-visualizing kidney was classified as renal parenchymal and obstructive diseases. Renal tuberculosis was the most frequent (15 cases) in parenchymal origin and urinary tract stone (13 cases) in obstructive origin. 5. Nephrectomy was performed in 18 cases and ureterolithotomy was done in 5 cases."
