Abstract

Testosterone is intimately related to normal sexual functioning. However most impotent patients have a normal level of circulating free testosterone. In this study, the effects of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone were observed using the
isolated
corpus cavernosal strip from the rabbit. Pretreatment of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone had no effect on the contraction induced by ¥á-adrenergic agonist. Furthermore both of them had no synergistic effect on the relaxation produced by
acetylcholine or vasoactive intestinal polypeptide. Further studies about the central effect are needed for clarifying the action mechanism of androgen.
