Abstract

Varying degrees of spinal cord injury may be associated with 85 to 97% of anejaculatory function. A variety of methods has been used in attempts to restore ejaculatory capacity. Subcutaneous injections of physostigmine was proposed as a chemical
ejaculation. Physostigmine crosses the blood-brain barrier and can be administered parenterally. We induced ejaculation using physostigmine in a 39-year-old male patient who had lost ejaculatory capacity after cervical cord injury. Normal semen
were
ejaculated three times antegradely. Artificial uterine insemination was performed on his wife. This first attempt was successful and she gave spontaneous vaginal delivery to a healthy son. We report a case of procreation induced by subcutaneous
physostigmine for the first time in Korea.
