Abstract

We treated 34 patients of stress urinary incontinence by endoscopic bladder neck suspension procedure and Marshall-marchetti-Krantz operation from november 1987 to January 1995, Mean follow-ujp period is 23 months(8-93 months) and results were as
follows:
1. mean period of incontinence is 54.5 months(8-180 months), mean age is 47.5 years(28-70 years), mean body weight is 585 kg(44-90 kg), and most patients were multiparous with an average of 3.4 deliveries(1-7 times).
2. Operative techniques were varied; Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz operation on 3 patients, Gittes operation on 9 patients, Stamey operation on 12 patients, Raz operation on 10 patients.
3. In the beaded chain cystourethrography, kpostoperative posterior urethrovesical angles were decreased as 24.0¢ª in rest and 34.4¢ª in strain, and postoperative bladder base elevations were increased as 0.9 cm in rest and 1.3 cm in strain.
4. postoperative urinary retention appeared in 17 patients(Gittes 5, Stamey 8, Raz 4 pts.; 47.2%), and duration of voiding difficulty was 8.7 days(Gittes 10.2, Stamey 19.9, Raz 11.0 dyas).
5. Operative success rates were 100% in marshall-Marchetti-Krantz, 88.9% in Gittes, 83.3% in Stamey and 100% in Raz operation.
