Abstract
황색육아종신우신염은 만성신우신염의 드문 형태로 40∼60대 여성에서 호발하며 병인은
확실히 규명되지는 않았지만 거의 대부분 상부 요로의 폐색과 세균감염에 의하며 임상 또는
방사선학적으로 신종양 또는 농신증 등 다른 신장질환과의 감별이 어려워 술후 조직검사에
의해 진단되는 경우가 많다. 이 질환이 소아에서 발생되는 경우도 역시 드물겠으나 가능한
신기능을 보존해야 한다는 측면에서 이 질환에 대한 더 많은 이해와 연구가 필요할 것 이
라 생각된다. 본 교실에서는 30개월된 남아에서 발생한 황색육아종신 우신염을 경험 하였기
에 이를 보고하는 바이다.

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis is an uncommon form of chronic pyelonephritis
occurring usually in middle-aged women. This disease is characterized by destruction of
the renal parenchyma which is then replaced by granulomatous tissue containing
lipid-laden macrophages (foam cells). But this disease is hard to diagnose preoperatively
since it resembles renal abscess, renal cell carcinoma, renal tuberculosis and so forth.
Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in children is rare. We report a case in a 30
month-old boy.
