Abstract
서 론
뇌동정맥기형에서 색전술은 주로 수술 전 처치, 방사선 치료를 위한 보조수단, 증상의 경
감 등의 보조적인 방법으로 이용되어 왔으나 최근 중재적 치료방사선학의 비약적인 발전으
로 일부 예에서는 단독요법만으로도 치료가 가능하게 되었다.
그러나, 과연 색전술 단독용법만으로 완치가 가능한지에 대해서는 논란이 많은 실정이며,
최근에 저자들도 색전술 단독요법 후 재발한 뇌동정맥기형을 두 예 경험하였기에 색전술 후
재발하는 기전에 대하여 문헌고찰과 함께 임상분석을 시행하였다.

Embolization of intracranial arteriovenous malformation has been mainly used for
palliation of symptom, for preoperative management, or for patients who have large
sized AVM planned for radiosurgery. But, it can be used as a sole, effective treatment
modality in some selected cases. However, there have been many controversies about its
completeness.
Over the past 10 years, the authors experienced two cases of patients who have
suffered from a recurrences of AVMs after embolization. The authors reviewed the
literature concerning about the recurrence of AVM after embolization and postulated the
causes for recurrences of our two cases.
In our opinions, complete embolic obliteration of cerebral AVM is impossible in mose
cases and embolization must not be used as a sole treatment modality of cerebral AVM.
