Abstract
서론
척주 경막외 수막낭종은 그 발생빈도가 전척추종양의 약 1%로 드문 질환으로 알려져 있
다. Extradural miningeal cyst를 때론 extradural arachnoid cyst라 기술하기도 하여 혼동이
있기는 하나 Nabors등은 이 둘을 모두 Type IA로 분류하였다. 이 낭종의 원인 및 성장의
기전에 대해서는 많은 가설들이 있다. 비외상성 경막외 낭종의 원인은 선천성으로 알려지고
있으며, 그 성장의 가능한 원인으로 내측 세포의 active secretion, 지주막 하강과 낭종사이
osmotic spinal gradient, pulsitile CSF dynamics, value-like mechanism등이 거론되고 있으
며, 최근 value-like mechanism을 뒷받침하는 보고가 잇따르고 있다.
저자들은 최근 흉요추부에 발생한 Type IA 척추경막외 수막낭종 1례를 경험하였기에 문
헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다

The cases of a 30-year-old woman with a spinal extradural meningeal cyst in the
thoracolumbar region is reported. The cyst was detected in the retromedullary space
between vertebra T12 and L3. A Dural defect was found in the operation field and
through the defect, there was communication between the cystic cavity and the
subarachnoid space. Closure of the defect, with partial resection of the cystic wall, was
sufficient to obliterate the cystic cavity.
