Abstract
서론
경추부 척추관 협착증(cervical spinal stenosis)은 중간 또는 하부 척추에서 주로 퇴행성
질환(degenerative disease)의 이차적인 병변으로 발생하며, 때로는 외상이나 후종인대의 석
회화로 인하여 발생하기도 하나 선천적인 환추(atlas)의 이상에 의한 척추관 협착증은 매우
드물다.
저자들은 환추의 이상발생으로 인하여 이차적인 척추관 협착증을 보인 환자에서 과격한
목운동시 반복적으로 일시적 사지부전마비 (recurrent transient quadriparesis)가 초래되는 1
례를 치험 하였기에 이를 보고하고자 한다.

Acase of 14-year-old student is presented with the complaint of recurrent attack of
transient quadriparesis during hyperextension of the neck. On 3-dimensional spinal CT
and MRI. the authors confirmed intrusion of posterior tubercle of the atlas with
increased signal on T1- and T2- weighted image was found. The clinical manifestations
were improved without having cervical instability after a posterior laminectomy of the
atlas.
