Abstract


The statistic investigation of malignant tumors is based on an analysis of 3,995 cases of malignant tumors collected from ten of major hospitals in Korea.
1. This statistic study reveal an incidence of cancer in 1965 over 1964.
2. Sex distribution shows a little higher incidence of malignant tumors in male, while the incidence in female is higher in the age group of 30-49, which may be due to high incidence of uterine cervix cancer during reproductive period.
3. Age distribution is higher among rather younger age group in Korea than foreign countries.
4. Following cancers are arranged in order of frequency to observe the incidence as whole; stomach cancer, uterine cervix cancer, primary hepatoma, colon cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, malignant lymphoma, uterine corpus cancer, cancer of brain and nervous system, urinary bladder cancer.
5. The order of frequency in male is as follows; stomach cancer, primary hepatoma, lung cancer, colon cancer, malignant lymphoma, skin cancer, cancer of brain and nervous system, urinary bladder cancer, laryngeal cancer, and cancer of bone.
6. The order of frequency in female is as follows: uterine cervix cancer, stomach cancer, breast cancer, uterine corpus cancer, primary hepato na, ovarian cancer, thyroid cancer, colon cancer. malignant lymphoma, and lung cancer.
