Abstract

We report here five cases of hepatocellular carcinoma with symptomatic bone meatastasis as initial presentation. All patients were men ranging from 60 to 73 years of age. Initial presentations were the result of pelvic mass(1 case), chest wall
mass(1
case), spinal cord compression (2 case) and pathologic fracture of femur(1 case). Of these 5 cases, bone metastasis commonly involved in ribs(5 cases) and in spine(4 cases). Actually, hepatocellular carcinoma presented as symptomatic bone
metastasis is
extremely rare, eventhough bone metastasis from hepatocellular carcinoma is found in 3% to 20% at autopsy. Prognosis is generally poor but palliative treatment with surgery and/or radiation can be considered.
