Abstract
충수돌기는 소화기계의 가장 작은 구조물이지만, 충수돌기에 생기는 병변, 특히 충수돌기
염은 외과적 응급질환의 가장 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다. 그러나 여러 진단학적 노력에도
불구하고 높은 빈도의 정상 충수돌기절제율 때문에 최근에는 단층촬영 영상 검사의 역할이
현저히 증가하고 있는 경향이다. 이 임상화보에서는 수술로 확진된 여러 충수질환의 스펙트럼과 흔한 동반소견 그리고, 진단적 함정들을 전산화 단층촬영을 중심으로 예시하고자 한다.

Cross-sectional imaging plays an increasing role in the diagnosis of appendiceal
diseases due to known high negative appendectomy rate. It is important for radiologists
to be aware of the computed tomographic (CT) appearances of various pathologies and
common associated findings which can mimic other diagnostic entities.
In this article, the author illustrates the CT appearances of a spectrum of appendiceal
disaeses and outlines potential diagnostic pitfalls.(J Korean Radiol Soc 1998: 38: 301-307)
