Hemangiopericytoma, arised from the Zimmerman's pericyte around capillaries, can
develop anywhere there are capillaries in the body. Histopathological diagnosis separating
benignancy from malignancy Is very difficult and local recurrences after surgery are
frequent.
Recently we experienced a case of hemangiopeicytoma extending from right skull base
to the oral. cavity, which developed in 60 years-old man complaining right cheek
swelling and intraoral mass persisting for four months. Preoperative histopathologic
diagnosis was made with punch biopsy of the gingivobuccal mass. The extent and the
vascularity of the tumor were evaluated with computed tomography, magnetic resonance
imaging, and angiogram.
We could remove the tumor completely via mini lateral facial translocation approach
after embolization, so we report the case with brief review of literature.
