Abstract
저자들은 산과력에서 특이 소견이 없는 3명의 신생아에서 출생 직후부터 경한 복부 팽만, 담즙성 구토 및 태변 배출 지연이 발생하여 시험적 개복술을 시행하여 회장 말단에서부터 대장에 박혀 있는 굳은 태변을 제거한 2예와 바륨 관장과 초음파 검사로 진단 후 gastrografin 관장으로 치료한 1예의 태변 전 증후군 3례를 경험하였기에 이에 보고하는 바이다.
Meconium plug syndrome (MPS) is the mildest and most common form of functional distal obstruction in the newborn. It is a transient obstruction of the distal colon and occasionally small bowel that is caused by inspissated immobile meconium. Neonates with MPS commonly presented with abdominal distension, bilious vomiting and problem with passage of meconium plugs. A plain abdominal radiograph often reveals generalized gaseous distention of the small bowel loops without an air-fluid level. A contrast enema is diagnostic, showing the outline of the meconium plug, and therapeutic if the plugs are passed out. In some cases of MPS there is failure to pass the meconium with the contrast enema, and emergent surgery is then required. We report here two cases of MPS that were diagnosed and treated by exploratory laparotomy and one case treated with Gastrografin enema. (Korean J Pediatr Gastroenterol Nutr 2006; 9: 249～255)
