Abstract
요근농양은 발병율이 낮고 진단이 늦어 사망률이 높은 질환으로 이차적인 요근농양이 흔하며 주위 장기에서 전파된다. 측복부통과 발열, 고관절 운동장애를 동반하고 정확한 진단을 위해서는 컴퓨터 단층촬영과 자기공명영상이 필요하기도 한다. 치료는 항생제
치료가
원칙이며 항생제 치료에도 지속적일 때 수술적 배농을 시행한다. 최근 저자는 류마티스 관절염환자에서 포도상구균이 동절된 양측 요근 농양 1예를 치험하였고 국내에는 보고된 예가 없었으므로 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
A psoas abscess is a rare clinical entity that presents diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Tuberculous vertebral osteomyelitis was formerly the principal cause of a psoas abscess, but now psoas abscesses most commonly result from direct

of intraabdominal infections. Occasionally, a psoas abscess results from extension of a perinephric abscess due to secondary infection of a retroperitoneal hematoma. Staphylococcus aureus is the most common cause of psoas abscess secondary to
vertebral
osteomyelitis. Tuberculosis, malnutrition, alcoholism, diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis and steroid use are responsible for compromise in host defenses and consequent increase in the relative risk of psoas abscess. Bilateral psoas

are
rare. A 66-year old woman with rheuamoid arthritis presented bilateral psoas abscesses. We report a case of bilateral psoas abscesses in rheumatoid arthritis confirmed by surgical drainage and tissue culture. To our knowledge, this is the second
case
report of bilateral psoas abscesses due to Staphylococcus aureus in a patient of rheumatoid arthritis in a world.
