Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study is to assess the feasibility of laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of hepatic cysts.
Methods: A retrospective study was done with 8 patients who underwent surgical therapy for hepatic cysts. Six patients underwent laparoscopic surgery and 2 patients underwent open surgery in Inha University Hospital from June 1996 to
August
2001.
Results: All laparoscopic operations were finished without conversion. There was no postoperative mortality and there were two postoperative complications in patients with laparoscopic surgery, but no one was significant.
Conclusion: Laparoscopic surgery is safe and effective for the treatment of hepatic cysts and may be recommended with adequate selection of patients and type of cystic liver disease.
